Where Is The Good In Goodbye?

I will be the first to admit that I am horrible with goodbyes.  Either I completely ignore the fact that I have to say it or I am a basket case…there is really no middle ground.  So I must look for the “good” in each goodbye.  Sometimes the “good” is just that you are getting the hell away from the person or situation, etc  or sometimes it is because you know that it is necessary for life’s next step. I have said a lot of goodbyes in my life, but none quite like this one!  I am saying goodbye to people and places that I love…and why you ask?  So I can go travel around the world…to places unknown.  I am leaving the safety and security of life as I know it…to jump head first into chaos…and I can’t...

Right Now I Hate Rick Steves, But I Say That With Love!

Sorry, okay Rick Steves is a pretty amazing guy!  I have been reading his guidebooks, been to his seminars, and listen to his podcasts.  In planning our trip abroad we have used many sources, soliciting family and friends, surfing the net, and of course our Rick Steves’ maps and guides.  We know where we want to go, how long to stay, and even know about interesting stops along the way.  Great we are ready…oh no that’s right we still have to pack!  And there it is…that four letter word that we all have to contend with…the thing we all must do before we leave..PACK. And here is where it gets tough ladies!  If I want to travel Europe as a unisex troll…then no problem.  If I want to travel Europe looking like a cute...

The time is near…

The trip is looming…but in a good way right?  I am having a hard time getting excited because there is still so much to do.  We are working on packing and wrapping things up here in Washington before we hit the road.  It is a challenge to pack for a trip to a variety of climates, for an undetermined length of time.  Oh add in a 10 year old son that I am going to be teaching…has the makings of a busy, crazy adventure that will be unforgettable!
